Celiac Disease

Celiac disease is a condition that damages the lining of the small intestine and prevents it from absorbing parts of food that are important for staying healthy. The damage is due to a reaction to eating gluten, which is found in wheat, barley, rye, and possibly oats.

Chronic Pelvic Pain

Chronic pelvic pain is pain in your pelvic region — the area below your bellybutton and between your hips — that lasts six months or longer.

Cirrhosis

Cirrhosis is scarring of the liver and poor liver function. It is the final phase of chronic liver disease.

Colitis

Colitis is swelling (inflammation) of the large intestine (colon).

Crohn's Disease

Crohn's disease is a form of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). It usually affects the intestines, but may occur anywhere from the mouth to the end of the rectum (anus). Ulcerative colitis is a related condition.

Diverticulosis & Diverticulitis

Diverticula are small pouches that bulge outward through the colon, or large intestine. If you have these pouches, you have a condition called diverticulosis. It becomes more common as people age. About half of all people over age 60 have it.

Hepatitis

Hepatitis is swelling and inflammation of the liver. The term is often used to refer to a viral infection of the liver.

IBS Associated with Pain Disorders

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a disorder that leads to abdominal pain and cramping, changes in bowel movements, and other symptoms. IBS is not the same as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which includes Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. In IBS, the structure of the bowel is not abnormal.

Liver Disease

The term "liver disease" applies to many diseases and disorders that cause the liver to function improperly or stop functioning. Abdominal pain, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), or abnormal results of liver function tests suggest you have liver disease.

Ulcerative Colitis

Ulcerative colitis is a type of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that affects the lining of the large intestine (colon) and rectum. Crohn's disease is a related condition.
